Staff Highlight
John joined Access AfterSchool in 2023, and has over twenty years experience in development at schools, libraries, hospitals, and hospices in Illinois and Colorado. He received his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation in 2006.
John is a graduate of Rockford University where he received a full academic scholarship for his study of philosophy and a master’s degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. For several years, John was an adjunct professor of medical ethics at his alma mater, Rockford University.
John began his development career at Spectrum Progressive School, a K-8 arts-integrated school. He was so taken with the evidence-based, innovative teaching methods that he joined the school’s board of directors and sent his two children to attend.
John has served on several non profit boards in the arts, science education, family counseling, libraries and trail building. Since 2002 he has been a Rotarian and Paul Harris fellow. Beyond his development experience, John has taught conversational English in the Czech Republic, climbed pyramids in Egypt, and was named one of his home town’s “40 under 40.”
